Consider these benefits:
The extra effort you put into an AP course is definitely worth it.
Consider these benefits:
- AP courses offer the opportunity to study a subject in-depth at the college level. This better prepares you for college work.
- If you receive a high enough score on an AP Exam, you may be eligible for credit, advanced placement or both at most colleges in the United States.
- The AP Program offers a number of AP Scholar Awards to students for outstanding performance on AP Exams. If you qualify, colleges will recognize this achievement.
FHS currently offers 4 Advanced Placement (AP) courses:
1. AP Chemistry - offered every other year.
2. AP Calculus - offered if student interest warrants a section.
2. AP Government - offered if student interest warrants a section.
5. Virtual Options - We have AP courses for students who choose to take a virtual AP course on Apex and MIVHS such as AP Psychology or AP Spanish Culture. There are several options.
Test Fees:
The cost of each AP exam is $96. Those students who qualify for a fee reduction based on the Fennville Household form that each family submitted in August will have an AP exam waiver of $53. Note: The state of Michigan usually offers a further reduction. Last year, the students who qualified for a reduction had to pay a total of $5. This Michigan fee information is not available yet. Reimbursements will be available when we learn more information. Students should submit a household form.
AP exam fee without reduction = $96
AP exam fee with reduction = $43 (*see note in above paragraph)
AP exam late fee = $40 in addition to the regular test fee
AP fee for students who miss the test = $40
Fee deadline:
October 29
Cash or checks payable to Fennville Public Schools
Test commitment:
All AP students will log into their AP CollegeBoard account and select if they plan to take the exam in May. With this step, students are making the commitment to take the exam and pay the AP exam fee by October 29 with the understanding that if they do not take the exam after this commitment, they will owe $40 for the unused test fee.
Test Dates:
All AP exams are in May.
*All exams will take place at Fennville High School.
